EWU's Barriere, Harrison earn Big Sky honors
FARMINGTON, Utah — Eastern Washington quarterback Eric Barriere and kicker Seth Harrison were named the offensive and special teams players of the week, respectively, by The Big Sky Conference on Monday.
Barriere tallied 468 total yards in Eastern Washington’s 66-38 win over Northern Arizona. The junior had 367 passing yards and three passing touchdowns to go along with 101 yards on the ground and a rushing touchdown. He finished 30-of-46 with no interceptions for an impressive 183.5 passing efficiency rating. Barriere helped guide the Eagles to 706 yards of total offense, the highest production by a Big Sky team this season against an FCS opponent.
Eastern Washington’s Harrison — a Coeur d’Alene High graduate — scored 12 points in the Eagles’ win over Northern Colorado. He converted all nine of his extra-point attempts and had a 27-yard field goal in the 28-point victory over Northern Arizona. The freshman had 10 kickoffs for a 50.8 average versus the Lumberjacks with one touchback.
Northern Colorado cornerback Michael Walker played a key role in his team’s 26-20 win at Idaho State — the first since 2009. He forced a fumble setting up UNC’s first touchdown of the game. The sophomore went on to record a 35-yard pick-six at the start of the second half to put UNC up 18-10. His second interception came late in the fourth quarter when he picked off the ball at the two-yard line with Idaho State threatening to score, helping preserve the Bears’ victory.
