POEM: Through the Leaves
|

Skip through the leaves, blithe and bonny.
Singing Hey Nonnie, Ho Nonnie!
Leaves baked dry crackle under toes,
Confetti when gusty wind blows.
A party lit bright and sunny!
Trees clap their hands excitedly,
Winged seeds shed in spinning glory!
Invited are we, I supposeā¦
Skip through the leaves!
Rains dampen and make them shiny,
Sparkling on walks now slippery.
Hopscotch those burnt orange plateaus,
Spelling out leafy words, who knows?
Neither slip nor slide but softly
Skip through the leaves!
