- The Idaho State Department of Education is accepting artwork submissions for their Holiday Card Contest from Idaho students in kindergarten through sixth grade. Deadline for submitting is 5 p.m. on Nov. 20. Entries can be mailed to: Idaho State Department of Education, Holiday Card Contest, attn. Karli Bennett, P.O. Box 83720, Boise, ID 83720-0027. - The Bras on Dudes fundraiser, which raises funds for local cancer support for Kootenai Cancer Center, raised a record amount at the Sept. 27 event. $15,500 was the grand total, almost doubling last year’s amount of $8,100. This was the eighth year the event was held.

- In Post Falls, the Q’emiln public boat launch on the Spokane River will close for the season at 5 p.m. next Monday, Nov. 11. The ramp, located upstream of Avista’s hydroelectric dam, is closed each year due to weather conditions and dropping water levels.
