Cardinals inch closer to East Region title

COEUR d’ALENE — Lake City High product Chloe Knudson had 13 kills and 10 digs for North Idaho College in a 25-21, 25-23, 22-25, 25-20 win over the Community Colleges of Spokane in Northwest Athletic Conference play at Christianson Gym on Friday.

With the win, NIC (25-3, 14-0 NWAC) can clinch the outright East Region title with a win at Blue Mountain on Friday or next Saturday at Treasure Valley. Spokane (29-2, 12-2) — the last team to beat NIC in an NWAC crossover tournament in Spokane on Sept. 14 — has clinched a playoff spot.

Taylor Foster had 12 kills, Hannah McPhetridge 12 kills, Kynzey Mitzel 24 digs and Hokulea Vargas 50 assists for NIC, which has won 14 straight matches.

Jordan Shoff had 15 kills and 15 digs for Spokane.
