CONSERVATIVE: And proud of it
I am responding to a letter by Joann Curtis of Coeur d’Alene. I had several problems with her letter.
The first is that she said Charlene Baron was putting “negative” stereotypes on people by calling them ignorant. While I don’t know the heart of Charlene, most of us conservatives don’t hate Democrats or want to make them feel stupid. We just want to make people realize that a lot of them don’t go out and dig for the truth; they just believe whatever a person they like tells them.
For example, she said in her letter that “we are trying to survive one of the most negative political times (in my lifetime) without witnessing the demise of our democracy.” I think what she said was right on target except the last part about our democracy. News flash, people: In the history of the United States of America, we have never had a democratic form of government. It has always been a constitutional republic. This is why I may call other people ignorant, because just like Joann does, they believe whatever other people think.
Lastly, she said that “Neither side is right or wrong, we just have different solutions to common problems.” That is an outrageous lie if I ever heard one. She has a side that she said she believes in, and when you believe in something you think it’s true. One side has already won in her mind. Her saying that is like me saying Buddhism is the only way to heaven when I’m a born-again Christian.
I want to finish up by saying I’m not a Republican or a Democrat. I am a freedom-loving, conservative American who loves his state that he has lived in most of his 16 years of life. When anyone tries taking away my rights that are God-given, I will fight against them.
