Kriste Measel, 59

With profound sadness we announce the sudden passing of Kriste Measel, our beloved and treasured mother, auntie, grammy, sister and friend.

Kriste was born March 5, 1960, in Whittier, Calif., to Rosemary Jane Measel and Harold Lloyd Measel. They moved to Idaho in June, 1968, where Kriste grew up with her seven brothers and sisters. She was a 1978 graduate of Lakeland High School. She welcomed daughter Misty into the world in 1980 and son Brian in 1985.

Kriste loved big and she loved hard and everyone that knew her, loved her so. A hug from Kriste was bursting with that love and would instantly surround you with a feeling of peace and comfort. Her laugh was a burst of unrestrained joy and all those that knew and loved her can still hear it now.

Her hobbies included fishing with her son, watching Hallmark movies with her girls and spending as much time as possible loving, playing with or watching ‘The Golden Girls’ with her grandbabies.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Rose; her father, Harold and her sister, Ruth Laabs; along with other dearly missed family members.

Kriste leaves behind her daughter, Misty Hancock and husband Clay of Ketchikan, Alaska; her son, Brian Measel and wife Chelsea of Rathdrum; her daughter, Zoe Barham and husband Cory of Rathdrum; as well as brothers Harold (Carol) Measel, Danny Measel and Richard Measel; sisters Shelley (Jack) Holtz and Colleen (Rob); and a long list of cousins and nieces and nephews, including Dawna, Amy, Jennifer, Jeff, Frankie, Kara, Christopher, Kelly, Holly, Sally, (and many more not related by blood); and also her beloved grandchildren, including Abby, Natalie, Avery, Kylee, Kaleb, Jesse, Calvin, Dawson, RoseMary, Mckade, Jack, Arleigh, Michael, Jayden, Scott and Josh; along with countless friends, among those are the huge clan that called her Mom, Auntie, KiKi and Grammy, regardless of blood relation.

Family, friends and all others whose lives Kriste touched are invited to her celebration of life potluck from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019, at the Rathdrum Senior Center, 8037 W. Montana Road.
