Henry A. Nipp Jr.

Henry “Hank” Nipp Jr., 72, of Osburn, Idaho, passed away May 26, 2019, at the Schneidmiller Hospice House of North Idaho, in Coeur d’Alene. He was born Oct. 2, 1946, in Coeur d’Alene, the son of Henry A. Nipp, Sr. and Olyve (Sheely) Nipp.

Henry grew up in Coeur d’Alene and later moved to the Silver Valley. He proudly served in the Navy from 1966 to 1971. Upon his honorable discharge he attended and graduated from North Idaho College.

Henry married the love of his life, Irene Montano, on July 17, 1976, in Wallace, Idaho.

Henry began his 40-year career as a forestry technician for the U.S. Forest Service at the Magee Ranger Station. He then worked at Wallace Ranger District and finally Coeur d’Alene Ranger District in Smelterville, Idaho. He loved working for the Forest Service. He was the happiest out in the mountains and in the woods. Henry was a mentor and friend to many of his co-workers.

Henry’s true passion was his family; his greatest joy in life was being a “Papa” to his grandchildren. He loved and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, Spokane Indians baseball, landscaping, the Oregon Coast, snow birding in Mesquite, Nev., and spending time around a “blazing” fire with family and friends.

Henry is survived by his wife, Irene; two children, Ryan B. (Jenna) Nipp of Coeur d’Alene and Jayme Nipp of Post Falls, Idaho; four grandchildren: Bailey, Asher, Koryn and Skyler; his brothers Lester (Sherry) of Spokane, Wash. and Larry (Gina) of Priest Lake, Idaho; brother-in-laws Chris Montano, Jeff Montano and Sam Montano; sister-in-laws Cora (Brent) Briggs, Roberta (Bob) Perry and Jeri Beck. Henry is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

At Henry’s request there will be no funeral service, but a celebration of life will occur at a later date. The family suggests that memorials be made to Hospice of North Idaho, 2290 W. Prairie Ave., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho 83815, or to the Humane Society of your choice.

Yates Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements.
