Max Eugene Hobson, 83
Max Eugene Hobson died peacefully on May 21, 2019, at the Hospice House of North Idaho from pulmonary fibrosis.
Max was born in Brigham City, Utah, on Jan. 24, 1936. He met his wife, Linda, on the ski slopes in Utah. They were married for 59 years. Max loved his family dearly. He is survived by his loving wife; his daughter, Heidi (and Dan) Kruse; his elder son, Brad (and Amy) Hobson, along with their families. He is also survived by Jeff and Holli Andrews and family. Max was preceded in death by a son, Ryan.
The Hobsons lived in Alaska for many years and raised their young family there. One of Max’s fondest memories was time spent with his “boys” at his remote cabin. Max was a very good athlete throughout his life. His favorite sport was golf. Whether in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, or Death Valley, Calif., Max loved the game and its camaraderie. After he retired at the Highlands in Post Falls he scored four holes-in-one at local golf courses.
Max’s grandchildren will miss him dearly and will never forget his Grandpa hugs and the warm, genuine smile that lit up his eyes. Max cherished his beloved dog, Lucy; she was the very best lap warmer. Max was the kind of guy who could fix anything — from flat tires and worn-out toys to bad days and broken hearts. He never expected anything in return, but he got it anyway: admiration, pride and, of course, lots of love.
