The North Idaho Fair and Rodeo Foundation recently awarded $13,500 in scholarships to local applicants — a record-breaking number.

Funds for the scholarships come from the sponsors of the annual North Idaho Fair Foundation Cowboy Ball, which was held on April 5.

Scholarship recipients include Sabre Soderbeck, Cody Wilding, Josephine Booth, Gabriella Sermeno, Alexander Weed, Alexandria Sheets, Madison Salois, Emily Lincoln, Cecilia Viebrock, Kassidy Bane, Madeline Baker and Ryan Hanna.

Sponsors of the scholarships include Kootenai/Shoshone Farm Bureau, Knudtsen Chevrolet, Livestock Boosters, John Magnuson and Hollice Houston, The Richards Family, Idaho Forest Group, Inspiro, Gem State Mule Company, Findlay Automotive and the North Idaho Fair and Rodeo Foundation. The money raised at the Cowboy Ball event is used for scholarships as well as capital improvements at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds.
