ANNIVERSARIES
John and Nancy Runge
60th Anniversary
John and Nancy (DeVoe) Runge were married at the First Christian Church in Coeur d’Alene on May 23, 1959. They have lived in the area for those 60 years.
They have four children, 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Their children are John F. Runge, Kristine Brewer (Bruce), Karen Hill (Jeff) and Jeff Runge (Shawna).
They will celebrate their 60th anniversary with a family dinner and a cruise to Alaska.
Norm and Barb Lovett
50th Anniversary
Norm and Barb Lovett celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 8, 2019. They celebrated their love together with a cruise on the Holland America with 34 friends that sailed with them.
Norm as a Navy Reservist entered active Naval Air Service in 1961. In 1966, Norm (after his first wife left him with a year-old child to raise) met the love of his life — Barbara (who also was a divorcee with a baby girl) while stationed at North Island Alameda. Norm and Barb were married May 8, 1969, in Minneapolis, Minn., and because of Barb’s bout with cervical cancer were unable to have any children of their own, but experienced all the problems of divorce and parenting two girls (8 months apart) in a blended family.
Eventually after much pain and difficulty, they placed our lives and marriage under God’s authority and guidance. Norm served in the Navy almost 25 years. Four years prior to retirement, Norm began seeking the Lord earnestly, to reveal His will for his life, come what may. The Lord then gave Norm the vision of Shiloh Ranch, a Christian nonprofit family guest ranch near Calder. After a final deployment of VP-60 to Kadena, Japan, in 1981 we were off to another 25 years of faith, adventure and hardship in the wilderness of Idaho. God provided for all their needs as they humbly learned to build, teach, cook, minister, counsel and administrate a guest ranch under a board of directors. In 2008, unable to find successors willing to work as they had, the board gave the ranch to Real Life Ministries in Post Falls.
Norm and Barb have since built a lovely home on the hillside above Post Falls — complete with trails and guest bedrooms. They continue on a smaller scale to mentor and counsel at “Shiloh II” and love it. “That’s us ‘Love-its.’”

MILITARY
U.S. Air Force Airman Cody G. Brewer graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Brewer is the son of Christine G. and son-in-law of Rick D. Brewer of Post Falls. He is a 2019 graduate of Connections Academy in Boise.
Aviation Electronics Technician Airman Isaac Zichko, of Post Falls, assigned to the Grandmasters of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 46, secures an MH-60R Sea Hawk helicopter aboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Bainbridge (DDG 96). Bainbridge is underway as part of the Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group (ABECSG) deployment in support of maritime security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th, U.S. 6th and U.S. 7th Fleet areas of operation.
Fireman Nicholas Washburn, a native of Rathdrum, joined the Navy because of family that had good things to say about their service, including his father, grandfather and a few cousins.
Now, a year later and half a world away, Washburn serves aboard the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan, patrolling one of the world’s busiest maritime regions as part of the leading-edge of U.S. 7th Fleet.
“It’s not too bad. I’m still adjusting a little bit to a few things. But it’s pretty good,” Washburn said. “There’s so many different cultures and backgrounds of shipmates.”
Washburn, a 2017 graduate of Lakeland High School, is an electrician’s mate aboard the Yokosuka, a Japan-based ship and the only forward-deployed aircraft carrier in the Navy.
