Peter Dami, 94

Peter John Dami went to be with God and his wife on May 9, 2019. Peter was married for 67 years and lived an incredible life. He was one of 11 children. Peter was born in Montana in 1924. His parents, Michael and Irma Dami, moved from Italy to Montana just before Peter was born. They then moved to Oakland, Calif., where the Dami family set up shop for years to come. Peter finished high school and enrolled in the Air Force, where he spent three years serving as a bombardier.

Peter then enrolled in college at Chico State. During the summer, he would visit Lake Tahoe and met some friends that would introduce him to the Northwest. He would then attend Washington State College (now WSU). He was accepted to pharmacy school and graduated with a masters in pharmacy. He then went back to Oakland and worked at a family pharmacy business. This is when he met his true love, Berni. They soon would marry and the adventure began. They both loved the outdoors and soon moved to the Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, area. He had a great, job offer as the first pharmacist at Kootenai Medical Center. He finished his career there.

Peter retired at age 62. He spent a lot of his time backpacking, fishing, hunting and camping with his family and friends. He made so many friends over the years in Coeur d’Alene and was truly blessed. He is a man that will be greatly missed by his family and friends, but we all know he is in a much better place now.

He is survived by his sisters, Olga, Mary and Tillie; his son, Daniel (Carisa); grandchildren, Brayden, Skylar and Danielle (Joe); and great-grandson, Peter.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 24, 2019, at St. Thomas Catholic Church, 919 E. Indiana Ave., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. A reception will follow the Mass at the Best Western Plus Coeur d’Alene Inn, 506 W. Appleway Avenue.
