GUNS: Idaho v. California

| May 15, 2019 1:00 AM

Mr. Boothe, in Idaho, you can buy one or more guns and take them home the same day. In California — A STATE RUN ENTIRELY BY DEMOCRATS — if you purchase a gun, you must wait 10 days to take it home, BUT only if you prove you have a STATE-APPROVED firearm safety device, lock box, or gun safe for your new weapon. Nor can you purchase more than one handgun in a 30-day period.

All ammunition sales must be processed by a licensed dealer. No home-shipping of ammo from online or catalog retailers. Background checks to buy ammunition will begin July 2019.

In California, semi-automatic rifles with pistol grips, a non-fixed magazine, folding or telescoping stocks, or a flash suppressor are legally “assault weapons” and there, it is illegal to purchase or gift so-called “assault” rifles.

All guns classified as “assault weapons” must be registered with the state. It is also illegal to openly carry UNLOADED rifles and shotguns in areas where county supervisors have issued shooting bans. A law banning magazines holding more than 10 rounds became illegal to own in 2017, but was recently struck down by a federal judge.

Hysterics aside, maybe the people rallying against excessive gun control in Washington state aren’t the ones who are misinformed. Maybe they are actually aware of what Democrats have done to California, and don’t want to become victims likewise. Happily, you live in a state run by Republicans who protect your right to keep and bear arms.
