Shorthanded Lake City plays to tie with Lewiston
COEUR d’ALENE — Host Lake City swept in boys singles and girls singles, but due to forfeits in some spots, finished in a 6-6 tie with Lewiston at Lake City High on Monday.
Lake City was without three players due to AP testing on Monday, the first match between the two 5A schools of the season.
“Our No. 2 girls doubles of Madi Chase and Morgan Wingham have been consistent for us all year and have been playing great tennis,” Lake City coach Roger Keilig said. “Chloe (Teets) and Schreyer (Jones) got a big win today in a competitive match.”
The 5A Region 1 tournament begins on Thursday at 10 a.m., with singles matches at Lewiston High and doubles matches at Clarkston High.

Lewiston 9, Post Falls 3
POST FALLS — After facing Lake City in the morning, the Bengals took a lunch break, then visited Post Falls on Monday afternoon, topping the Trojans in a 5A IEL matchup.
Post Falls did well in girls doubles, as the teams of Courtney Finney and Molly Barkley and Emiley Schlothauer and Kailey Moors both won their matchups. Schlothauer and Moors won a tiebreaker 10-5 after splitting the first two sets.
Also winning a tiebreaker was the Post Falls mixed doubles team of Justin Wiggers and Amber Steenburgh, who edged the Lewiston team of Tristan Bachman and Sara George 10-8 in the extra frame.
The Trojans compete in the 5A Region 1 tournament on Thursday in Lewiston.
