Linda Joyce Stone, 77

Our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Linda Joyce Stone, 77, passed away May 1, 2019, in Layton, Utah. She was born June 3, 1941, to Orvel and Macy Stinson Mathews in Bellflower, Calif. She married Stephen Stone on Dec. 24, 1959; their marriage was later solemnized in the Los Angeles LDS Temple.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held multiple leadership positions with the youth and primary. She was also a member of the church choir.

Linda was a creative artist. She enjoyed painting, sculpting, sketching and crocheting. She was a highly skilled homemaker and enjoyed league bowling with her friends.

She is survived by her husband, Stephen; children, Arleen (Scott) Patterson, Greg (Suzanne) Stone, Brenda Stone, Sarah (Michael) Mathews; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; and brother, Lee Mathews. She was preceded in death by her son, Donald Stone; parents; brother, Glen Mathews; and sister, Gloria Walker.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at Creekside Ward Chapel, 625 South 750 East, Layton, Utah. Friends and family may gather for a viewing prior to services from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m.

A second memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2019, at English Funeral Home, 1700 N. Spokane St., Post Falls, Idaho. Friends and family may gather for a viewing prior to services from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Post Falls.
