Arizona ousts Vandals

TUCSON, Ariz. — Taylor Pierce hit six 3-pointers and scored 20 points, but the Idaho Vandals came up short in a 68-60 loss to the Arizona Wildcats in the third round of the Women’s National Invitational on Thursday night before 6,307 at the McKale Center.

Mikayla Ferenz and Gina Marxen added 10 points each for Idaho, which finished 22-12.

Allison Kirby, a sophomore from Timberlake High, had two points and two assists in eight minutes off the bench for the Vandals.

Aari McDonald scored 18 points to lead four Arizona (21-13) players into double figures.
