Recently Shopko pharmacy closed. I had enjoyed a long and happy relationship with them.

Upon asking Shopko to send my prescriptions to another pharmacy, I was told that my prescriptions had been purchased at an auction by Rite Aid. I was horrified. These were basically my medical records for almost 20 years. I had not been notified. Nor had I knowingly signed permission to auction them to Rite Aid. To say the least I was flummoxed.

I was sure that couldn’t be right, but was informed it was all legal under bankruptcy law. To this day I am still in shock.

I have since had my prescriptions and records sent to my pharmacy of choice.

To this day, I still feel violated. If this is really the law, I hope people will demand this be stopped. If it is not the law, then I still want everyone to be aware of this incident.
