Jan Lea (Ohnemus) Nuszkiewicz, 67

Jan Lea (Ohnemus) Nuszkiewicz, 67, of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho, passed unexpectedly on March 11, 2019, at Kootenai Medical Center with her family by her side. Jan was born Dec. 25, 1951; she is the beginning of four generations to be born and raised in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and she was very proud of that.

“Remember the good times” was her favorite saying from her dad. She loved to be around the ones who loved her most. The most important thing in her life was her family, which included her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with her dogs. She loved gatherings, her hideaway and pictures of her family. She had such a big heart and welcomed all to her home with open arms. She also cherished being in her backyard, rocking on her swing under her hideaway and listening to her wind chimes. She enjoyed gardening, baking, the Hallmark Channel and Christmas movies.

You could always find her working in her yard, weeding and watering her variety of flowers and plants. She took pride in having the greenest and most decorated yard in the neighborhood.

Some of the most precious memories we all share are the times we spent baking with her. We never used a mixer; everything was truly handmade. She always said, “it won’t turn out if you don’t have the wiggle in it.” She was well known for her cookies, pies and jams. It was a tradition to share these items with family and anyone who impacted her life. Jan lived her life by always remembering the good times and all the memories she made with her family.

Jan loved her kids with her heart and soul. She also left behind her four-legged babies, Dusty and Aiden. Dusty was always by her side and knew when she wasn’t feeling well. He was a momma’s boy, and they shared an unbreakable bond. Aiden loved to pull her blankets off anytime he wanted to go outside, and if she didn’t get up in time, he would talk (howl) at her. One after the other, they would back talk to each other until she finally gave in.

If she could choose one place in the world to spend a few days with her family away from home, it would always be the Oregon coast. Waking up at the break of dawn, she wouldn’t risk missing low tide, in search of every last shell and sand dollar.

She is preceded in death by her father, James Ohnemus and her sister, Joyce Barber.

Jan is survived by her husband, Robert Nuszkiewicz; mother, Edna “Eddie” Fleming-Ohnemus; her siblings, Julie Dahlgren, Rick Ohnemus, Rob (Maria) Ohnemus, Jodi Nelson and Jill Foelsch; children, Jodi Teter (Wayne McKay), Lynn Teter-Morrow, (Wade Morrow), Jenny Teter-Smith (Colton Smith), Chris (Abby) Nuszkiewicz and Tony Nuszkiewicz; her grandchildren, Laci Morrow Eastin, Kylea Smith, Jadyn Smith, Kenza Smith, Ashlyn Morrow and Zoey Nuszkiewicz; great-grandchildren, Kaedyn Schifano and Kashtyn Schifano; furbabies, Dusty and Aiden; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2019, at Hayden Bible Fellowship, 9140 Reed Road, Hayden, ID 83835. Please visit Jan’s online memorial at www.englishfuneralchapel.com.

In lieu of flowers, plants for her yard would be appreciated. The children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will plant them there together in her memory. Live, Laugh, Love.
