LAKELAND: Keep support strong

| March 8, 2019 12:00 AM

I am writing to express my strong support for the upcoming Lakeland Joint School District Replacement Instructional/Extra-Curricular 2-Year Levy. As a parent of two children in the district, I have had the opportunity to watch the growth and expansion of our schools. We have directly benefited from full-day kindergarten, hiring of new staff to ensure appropriate classroom ratios, participation in extra-curricular activities and the Advanced Learning Program (ALP). This levy will ensure that these programs/initiatives along with many others will continue.

Losing the revenue generated from this levy would directly impact the quality of education our students receive. A yes vote on March 12 maintains support for our local students by continuing to fund programs, services and resources they currently receive while allowing for improvement of safety measures and program expansion in the near future. Additionally, the proposed levy will decrease the amount we are currently paying in property taxes. Our children are the future. We need to prioritize their education and support our schools.
