Lung transplant journey ends

Jen McKenna, who underwent a double-lung transplant May 23, has died.

The Press has been following Jen’s story since she and her husband, Corey, announced that she would be traveling to the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill to receive a set of healthy lungs free of cystic fibrosis.

Corey posted the following on the Team McKenna Facebook page Thursday:

“It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that my beautiful wife and best friend passed away this morning at 5:15. She is now with our most heavenly father. This brave and beautiful woman was a treasure and inspiration to so many people.”
