Lums open tourney with rout

BOZEMAN, Mont. — Alex Karns hit a two-run triple to highlight a 13-run third inning, helping the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen finish off the Columbia Basin River Dogs 18-2 in the first game of the Bozeman Bucks Heroes Park Invitational on Thursday.

Karns finished 2 for 2 with 4 RBIs and two runs scored for Coeur d’Alene (17-7-1). Dylan Brum went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and three runs scored, and Jake Brown, Jackson Scherr, David Kraak and Brandon Gay each drove in two runs for the Lums.

Coeur d’Alene is scheduled to play the Fort Collins (Colo.) Lambkins and the Jackson (Wyo.) Giants today as pool play continues.
