As I spent the past week serving cookies and Kool-Aid to the Vacation Bible School I didn’t get very much fishing in. That is what I get for not liking to fish in the evening!

Wife and I did get to Smith Lake and we got enough fish to run us all week.

For once I outfished her - I got my limit and I better hadn’t tell what she got. We took out supper and just relaxed and enjoyed the evening.

Had four boats within 10 feet of each other and we just visited. I got one 16 inches long and several, 12.

Bullheads were quite active too!

Had a very enjoyable evening.

Scuttlebutt: The Bosseys from Michigan saw three elk at Smith Lake. They have company too, from Michigan. Had ears from Michigan, California, Wyoming and Montana at Smith Monday evening.

Calf elk seen on the new road above Robinson Lake.

Thirty-seven geese banded at McArthur last week.

Would like to watch that some time.

We have a good hatch of grouse and pheasants according to the reports I get. The grouse I am most interested in because to my notion they are the best game bird in the country.

No word on turkeys!
