Cynde Marie Felton, 60

Another one of God’s angels received their wings when our precious mother, Cynde Marie Felton, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2019, with family by her side in the comfort of her home, in Hayden, Idaho. She was born to the late Donna and Jim Vance, on Jan. 25, 1959, in San Gabriel, Calif.

Cynde is survived by her four children: Bryan (Marla) Cummings, Michael (Sara) Cummings, Nikole Cummings (a.k.a. Charlie), and Jared Felton; as well as three grandchildren: Mason, Madison and Mykinzie Cummings; and four wonderful stepchildren and grandchildren who completed the family, along with many special nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her two sisters, Kelly Willette and Susan Nave.

Cynde worked in the legal field for most of her life, including at the Kootenai County Courthouse as a clerk, then at Raeon Law Office, and then she worked for Debbie and Tim VanValin at VanValin Law Office for 14 years, until her retirement in 2015. It was during her time at the courthouse that she met and was married to Chief of Police Jason Robert Felton. He passed away from ALS in 2008; he had been under her constant care. She then fell in love and was with her husband, Ric Barrett, and lived happily ever after.

During her later years, Ric and Cynde led an adventurous life. They took many trips to the Oregon Coast, went on white water rafting trips, a submarine adventure, helicopter rides and zip lining adventures. Another favorite was the yearly sprint boat races at St. John, Wash., with her sisters. They put 60,000 miles on their motorhome over the years. Cynde was afraid of heights and it wasn’t easy to convince her to leave the ground, but because of these trips, she was able to live life to the fullest when it counted the most.

Cynde and Ric’s favorite thing to do was take their children and family camping whenever they got the chance. Family was everything to Cynde and she loved her children and grandchildren with everything that she had. Anybody who knew Mom knew that her house always had an open door policy. She was the one her children and all of their friends would come to for advice and just for a good hug and a laugh when they needed it. As soon as your feet stepped in her door, the first thing you would hear is “are you hungry?” and the last thing on the way out was “do you want to take some food with you?”

She truly was an angel to all. It is hard to put into words how special Mom was and how many lives she touched during her time here on Earth. Her love and compassion for her family is something that will never be forgotten and her memory will forever live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her.

From the moment Cynde was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer in May of 2018, Ric and her family never left her side and cared for her in her longtime home in Hayden. Anybody who knew Mom knew she was a woman with a love for life and a will to fight, and that is just what she did until the end. She fought as hard as she could and did it with unparalleled strength that gave us all something to learn from. She will truly never be forgotten and will be missed every day.

The family would like to thank Dr. Allen and his staff for giving Cynde such special treatment.

“Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day ... unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear.”

Per her wishes, there will not be a service at this time. There will be a private celebration of life at a later date. Yates Funeral Home is entrusted with final arrangements. Please visit Cynde’s online memorial and sign her guest book at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
