- The city of Coeur d’Alene and the North Idaho Sports Commission are in negotiations that could once again establish a full Ironman triathlon in Coeur d’Alene. Commission Vice President Britt Bachtel-Browning would not confirm details of the negotiation, but she said all options were on the table when asked if a rotating schedule of full races was discussed.
- Montana Rail Link has been awarded a $3.5 million federal grant to design a safety system for a railway between southern Montana and North Idaho. The Federal Rail Administration grant will fund the design and environmental review of implementing an automated system to stop a train before a crash.
- U.S. Rep. Russ Fulcher pushed to add $5 million for veterans to a spending bill impacting Veterans Affairs. The bipartisan amendment, if it becomes law, would add more VA services — specifically, beds — to those who served. Idaho is home to more than 115,000 veterans.
