Brown does it for Lums
PULLMAN — Jake Brown went 2 for 3 with an RBI and three runs scored and the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen took the lead with a seven-run sixth inning to beat the Kalispell Lakers 10-7 in their first of two games Friday at the Palouse Summer Series at Washington State’s Bailey-Brayton Field.
In the second game, Coeur d’Alene led 5-1 before the Caldwell Silver Streaks 18U scored five runs in the fifth inning and two in the sixth to edge the Lums 8-7.
Against Kalispell, Dylan Brum went 2 for 2 with three RBIs and two runs scored for the Lumbermen, including RBI singles in the first and third innings.
In the sixth, Marcus Manzardo’s infield RBI single tied the game at 5. Brown and Brum then drew bases-loaded walks to put Coeur d’Alene up 7-5,
Against Caldwell, Brown went 2 for 3 with two triples, an RBI and three runs scored. Alex Karns went 2 for 2 with an RBI and two runs.
With the bases loaded in the seventh, Manzardo hit a two-run single to pull the Lums within a run. But the tying run was thrown out at third on the play, ending the game.
Coeur d’Alene (13-7-1) is scheduled to wrap up tourney play today vs. Ford Sports Performance Baseball 18U at 10 a.m. at Pullman High.

POST FALLS — Harrison Reid drove in four runs, two on a second-inning single, as the Prairie Cardinals beat FM Sports 10-4 in their second game of the day in the Best of the Northwest tournament at Post Falls High.
Earlier, despite a strong performance from Matt Fleming, the Cardinals lost to the Eastside Dodgers 4-2.
Fleming and Nick Chase each drove in two runs for Prairie vs. FM Sports, and Brock Zeller and Spencer Zeller each scored three runs.
Against the Dodgers, Fleming struck out nine and allowed just three hits for Prairie. He also went 2 for 4, with RBI singles in the first and seventh innings.
Prairie (6-15-1), 2-2 in the tourney, continues tourney play today against a foe to be determined.
