- Post Falls Police will hold its monthly Coffee with a Cop on Wednesday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Super 1 Foods, 805 E. Polston Ave. The first cup of coffee is on the department, and a free gun lock will be available to those who stop by. There is no agenda. It is a chance to ask questions, voice concerns and get to know the staff.

- Avista Utilities, which owns and operates dams on the Spokane River, reminds the public that waters near a dam contain hidden dangers. Swirling water, submerged objects, strong currents and open spill gates pose serious hazards to boaters and swimmers. Sudden discharges of water from spillways and turbines can also rapidly increase water levels and river flow below a dam. Always wear a life jacket on the water and obey all posted warning and closure signs.

- The McDonald’s Big Wheel Race during the Post Falls Festival is at 6:30 p.m. July 12 in the Q’emiln Park Grand Pavilion. It is a free race for kids ages 3 to 6. Big Wheels will be available or participants can bring their own. No “rigged” big wheels or rubber tires will be allowed. Register at postfallsidaho.org or at the Parks and Recreation Office until July 12 at noon. On-site registration will be available from 5 to 6:15 p.m.
