U of I Coeur d'Alene to host tech camps for kids this summer
COEUR d'ALENE — The University of Idaho Coeur d’Alene is inviting students ages 8 to 18 to embrace the region’s growing tech presence during the seventh annual Dig’nIT summer program.
Registration is now open for six hands-on educational camps.
Since its inception in 2013, the Digital Innovators Generating New Information Technology (Dig’nIT) program has served more than 850 young learners.
New for 2019, two Dig’nIT camps will be held at the Boys and Girls Club of Kootenai County. This option extends the program’s reach to more students who may not otherwise have the opportunity to attend.
The 2019 Dig’nIT camp lineup:
- June 24 to 28 — Cosmetic Chemistry for girls ages 11 to 14 at U of I Coeur d'Alene
- July 15 to 19 — iDVENTURE Panda Ambassador Program for youth ages 11 to 15 at U of I Coeur d'Alene
- July 22 to 26 — Scratch Coding Camp at Boys and Girls Club (Post Falls and Coeur d’Alene locations)
- July 29 to Aug. 2 — Swift Coding Camp at Boys and Girls Club (Post Falls and Coeur d’Alene locations)
- July 29 to Aug. 1 — STEAM Lab single half-day camps for ages 8 to 18 at U of I Coeur d'Alene
- Aug. 5 to 9 — Swift Coding 2 for youth ages 11 to 14 with prior Swift experience at U of I Coeur d'Alene
Dig’nIT Camps have a suggested value of $150 for weeklong camps and $20 for single, half-day labs, but the program operates under a “pay what you can” model to ensure accessibility to all.
