WARNING: Principles or Power?
This is a tale of three Sauls. All are examples of Eternal Principles — or lack of them — and Earthly Power. These three made their choices on Earth and now are dead.
Saul of Tarsus (5-67? AD) had a brilliant mind and had connections to the powerful elite. If he had lived in the 21st Century, he could have been a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford, or graduated from Harvard with top honors! He and his fellows were into control and regulated aspects of peoples’ lives. They had at least 613 commandments for others. They did not come to set you free, they came to take your “Rights to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness” away.
Saul would have been a favorite of CNN, MSNBC and perhaps, Fox News; although he would have been a bit weak on promoting legal abortion.
Saul Alinsky (1909-1972) had 13 rules of controlling his fellow man. He is an idol of many powerbrokers. It is claimed that he planned to organize Hell, when he died? Good Luck!
King Saul (~1100 BC) started out with principles, but let power go to his head — and lost his head (in battle).
Now there are physical and spiritual principles that our universe runs by. If we repeatedly and foolishly ignore gravity, electromagnetic and nuclear principles, we are dead. If we foolishly and repeatedly ignore spiritual principles of loving our neighbor and loving GOD, we are eternally dead.
Saul of Tarsus stopped trying to control; and even kill his fellow man. He repented and became the Apostle Paul!
