Former Coeur d'Alene QB lands at UCLA
Colson Yankoff has found another home — but he’s still in the Pac-12.
The former Coeur d’Alene High star quarterback and four-star recruit is headed to UCLA, the Bruins tweeted Tuesday.
Yankoff redshirted at the University of Washington as a freshman last season, then decided to transfer following the Huskies’ spring game in April. He made an unofficial visit to UCLA in May.
Yankoff, a two-year starter at Coeur d’Alene, originally committed to the University of Oregon prior to his junior season in high school. He re-opened his recruitment when head coach Mark Helfrich and the rest of the Ducks’ coaching staff was let go following the season.
The 6-foot-4, 210-pound Yankoff committed to Washington in March 2017, and signed a letter of intent with the Huskies in December. He redshirted his first year in Seattle, then was caught in a logjam at quarterback this spring.
UCLA’s top returning quarterback is sophomore Dorian Thompson-Robinson, a dual-threat quarterback like Yankoff who passed for 1,311 yards and seven touchdowns with four interceptions last season.
