David E. Coe, 70
David E. Coe, 70, passed away peacefully at the North Idaho Hospice House, in Coeur d’Alene, on Thursday, May 30, 2019, with his family by his side. He was born on Feb. 3, 1949, in Coeur d’Alene, to Lloyd and Mildred (Hill) Coe. David moved several times to different places with his mom, dad and siblings as a child; however they settled back in Post Falls.
David enjoyed all sports, but playing and umpiring softball were his favorite. When he was not coaching his daughter Jody’s softball teams, he was playing golf with friends on Sunday mornings. He loved hunting with his family in the fall, along with fishing with his brother-in-laws and nephews. He also enjoyed target practicing in the front yard with grandson, Christopher; helping granddaughter, Savanna, improve her softball swing, throwing and catching; teaching grandson, Taelor, how to catch a fish out of his favorite fishing spot on Hauser Lake and helping his wife cheer on the ‘Zags. But mostly, the special “how was your day?” sign when his son-in-law, Larry, would come home from work. We cannot forget David’s favorite holiday was the Fourth of July, which always seemed to start in June with his must-have fireworks.
He was always willing to help anyone who was down on their luck. He had a heart of gold and would give anyone anything they needed, no matter the cost. David was a true hero in his family’s eyes.
David is survived by his wife, Janice Coe; daughter, Jody McMillen and son-in-law, Larry McMillen; grandsons, Christopher Walton, Larry McMillen, Dylan McMillen and Taelor McMillen; granddaughters, Savanna and Kelsi McMillen; daughter, Billie Jo Woodall and son-in-law, Ron; grandson, Joseph; daughter, Jennifer and family; and son, Marty Coe and grandson, Li’l Marty; along with numerous nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Betty, Shirley and Darlene and brother, Gary Coe, who he always called upon when he was in trouble.
At David’s request, there will be no services, but a family gathering will take place at a later date.
Jody and I would like to thank all of the nursing staff at the hospice house for all the love and support they gave all of us when we need them.
English Funeral Chapel of Coeur d’Alene has been entrusted with David’s care and arrangements. Please sign his memorial at www.englisfuneralchapel.com.
