| June 2, 2019 1:00 AM

MEDICAL LAKE, Wash. — Jackson Scherr hit a grand slam as part of a 10-run sixth inning, and the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen went on to beat the Spokane Expos 18U 18-16 to split their two games Saturday at the Spokane Northside Clash tourney.

Earlier, the Spokane Cannons AAA squad scored all seven of its runs in the top of the fifth to erase a 4-0 deficit and beat the Lumbermen 7-6.

Scherr’s shot put the Lums ahead 16-13 in the top of the sixth. He finished 2 for 5 with three runs scored. Peyton Childers went 4 for 5 with three RBIs and two runs scored for Coeur d’Alene, Marcus Manzardo was 3 for 4 with four RBIs and two runs, and Breyson Coppess was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and three runs scored.

The Lums trailed 12-0 after four innings before scoring eight runs in the fifth and 10 in the sixth.

Against the Cannons, Dylan Brum went 3 for 4 and drove in four runs for Coeur d’Alene. He hit a two-run double to cap a four-run third inning, then hit a two-out, two-run single in the seventh to pull the Lums within one. Coeur d’Alene had runners at first and second, but the Cannons struck out the next batter to end the game.

The Lums (2-4) are scheduled to play the Walla Walla Bears today at 8 a.m. in Medical Lake.
