Gordon Ward Cottier, 65
Gordon Ward Cottier was born April 20, 1954, in Colorado. He grew up in Missoula, Mont. He met Sheila K. Mobley in junior high school. They were married in 1971. After high school, in 1973, they moved to Coeur d’Alene. In 1977 they moved to Rathdrum.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Jody (Tony) Johnson; a son, Travis (Kelly) Cottier; grandchildren Jakob (Kaleigh) Carpenter, Ryan Holliday, Kyra Swearingen, Kobe, Tatum and Finley Cottier; step-grandchildren Jay (Christine) Johnson and Kyle (Sue) Johnson; a great-grandson, Wotan Carpenter; step-grandchildren Raelynn, Avery, Adelyn, Channing and Logan Johnson; a brother, Terry (Debi) Cottier; nieces Amy Snow and sons, Trevor and Ethan, Sarah (Todd) Rimby and daughter, Olivia; a step-sister, Michal (Tom) Stewart and daughter, Alex Stewart and many in-laws. He was preceded in death by his father, Vern; his mother and step-father, Zella and Jack Bloxom, and a brother, Greg.
Gordy worked as a journeyman industrial roofer until he was disabled by a back injury in 1988. In 1995, he and Sheila moved to Avery and enjoyed hunting and fishing in the St. Joe area. He enjoyed building cedar strip canoes, faceting gemstones and working on Avery community projects. He prayed three times daily to ask God to watch over his family. He is relieved to finally get off the water-sewer board!
At Gordon’s request, no formal services will be held. The family will have a celebration of life and scatter his ashes at his favorite hunting spot at “No Tell ‘Em Creek on None of Yer Business Mountain.”
