Peggy A. Childers

It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of Peggy A. Childers (68) on July 18, 2019. Peggy passed away peacefully in Sandpoint, Idaho, after fighting a 7-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Peggy was born Nov. 8, 1950, in Phoenix, Ariz., to John Childers and Theresa (Pitrone) Edgington. She attended Meadowdale High School, in Lynwood, Wash. Peggy later moved to California, where she married Dale Erbe and had two children, Theresa Erbe-Neuberger and Michael Erbe. In 2006, she moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

As an adult, Peggy worked many years as an administrative assistant for various residential construction companies before retiring in 2013.

Peggy loved the Lord and enjoyed attending Bible study and services. She also loved music, elephants, reading, writing, and mostly spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was loving and kind and wanted nothing more than to love and be loved. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and a laugh that everyone loved.

Peggy was preceded in death by her father, John, her mother, Theresa, and her stepmother Ruth. She is survived by her former husband, Dale Erbe, son, Michael Erbe (44); daughter, Theresa Erbe-Neuberger (46); her three grandchildren, Kevyn Erbe (26), Katrina Neuberger (21) and Shane Neuberger (18), her brothers, John Childers and Kenneth Childers, her sisters Lucille Botos and Lisa (Edgington) Sever, and her aunt Mae (Pitrone) Young. A private, final goodbye was held for immediate family at English Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. A memorial in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and Southern California, will be held in Peggy’s honor at a date to be announced at a later time.

Peggy’s children would like to sincerely thank the staff at Huckleberry Retirement for their loving care the last 10 months of her life, and also Auburn Crest Hospice for their care in keeping her comfortable this past month. No words can describe how grateful our family is for those who loved her and worked to keep her comfortable in the last month of her life.

In lieu of flowers, please make a “tribute” donation to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Peggy Childers.
