Bringing Nashville to North Idaho

Meet Jeremy McComb, a fiercely independent, Nashville-based recording artist responsible for songs selling more than 6 million units on various projects (including a Grammy-nominated movie soundtrack).

Jeremy is a road-proven, relentless touring performer who has an incredible magic trick of audience connection. His repertoire boasts a new album with more than 2 million streams, a new tour selling out venues across the country, and a rabid fan base that started right here in North Idaho.

Generation: "Charmingly off-color" is one I've heard! I don't really fit into molds. I don't like clubs or labels. I find myself more as a Northwest country kid who has been blessed to live a dream. Trying to be a better person than I was yesterday — a better dad, husband and human.

Career and community involvement: I got my start playing in the club that me and my best pal, Bob Kreaman, now own. It was called Kelly's then. I went from that to working in radio, followed by tour managing Larry the Cable Guy and the Blue Collar Comedy Tour, before I got my own record deal. Once we bought the club and created Nashville North, Bob and I wanted to make sure the club was looked at as an asset to the community, with benefits for the Post Falls Food Bank and veterans organizations. We're proud to give back whenever we can. Bob is an incredible ambassador to our community.

Parental status: Married to actress Kourtney Hansen (ABC's "Nashville" / Hallmark's "Christmas at Graceland") and three incredible kids, Kennady, Knox and Ryker.

1. How often do you come back to your hometown of Post Falls?

I get to come back a good bit now. With the club I try to get back every few months and with my national tours I come through to play four times a year or so.

2. What's it like to be a North Idaho guy who followed his dream all the way to Music City?

It all seemed a bit unattainable to me when I was younger. I struggled with school and where I fit in. It took me a long time to find my true self. But for those of us out there searching, I found if you just refuse to quit, the obstacle becomes the way, and the path seems to open itself to what you're meant to do.

3. What do you love most about giving our community a venue to kick up their boots in Nashville North?

That building was my teenage years. It's my childhood, so it's very important to me. My partner Bob and I had so many incredible experiences in there. We wanted to bring the experience of an incredible venue to our hometown with the expertise Bob has in the service industries and my venues/live music experience together to create something that you would see in Nashville or Austin every night right in the Pacific Northwest.

4. What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?

I've ridden bicycles around the world with wounded veterans, including riding a bicycle 500 miles in six days from New Orleans to Tallahassee, Fla., with a group of Wounded Allied Warriors as part of a Veteran recovery program.

5. Who are your music idols and why?

Ahh, so hard to narrow it down ... but I love storytellers. Jim Croce is a huge influence. I love ’50s music as well for the simplicity, folk music, and of course Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson, along with my dad. Watching him in the clubs in the Northwest was my first taste of entertaining a crowd and that rush of being on stage.
