Ehlo joining

broadcasts

for Cougar

men’s hoops

Former Washington State men’s basketball standout and NBA veteran, Craig Ehlo, will join the Voice of the Cougars, Matt Chazanow, on select Washington State men’s basketball broadcasts this season, Learfield IMG College announced Tuesday.

Ehlo is set to serve as the color analyst for Washington State men’s basketball home games during the 2019-20 season. A transfer from Odessa College, Ehlo came to Pullman for the 1981-82 and 1982-83 basketball seasons, playing for head coach George Raveling.

During his senior season Ehlo helped lead WSU to the 1983 NCAA Tournament where it played the first and second rounds at Boise. The Cougars defeated Weber State in the first round before falling to No. 1 seeded Virginia. Ehlo compiled 91 steals in two years, along with 191 assists, including 135 as a senior when he spent most of his time at point guard. He was, in addition, a talented offensive player who shot a then-school record 55 percent from the field during conference games in 1983.

Chiefs acquire defenseman Chudley,

fifth-round pick from Winnipeg

The Spokane Chiefs acquired defenseman Jordan Chudley and a fifth-round selection in the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft from the Winnipeg ICE in exchange for defenseman Mike Ladyman and a fifth-round pick in the 2021 WHL Bantam Draft.

The 18-year-old Chudley appeared in 32 games for the ICE as a rookie last season, accumulating two points and 40 penalty minutes. He was the ICE’s fourth round selection in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft.

Blackburn, Coffey named

preseason

All-Americans

Eastern Washington sixth-year center Spencer Blackburn added yet another honor as he was honored Tuesday by STATS as a second team Preseason NCAA Football Championship Subdivision All-America selection.

Idaho punter Cade Coffey, a Lakeland High product, was selected to the second team and offensive lineman Noah Johnson was a first-team pick for Idaho.

Blackburn has now earned a trio of preseason All-America accolades after earning a pair of A-A honors to conclude the 2018 season. In June, the 6-foot-2, 290-pound Blackburn was one of 28 players selected to the Athlon preseason squad after earning second team honors from Hero Sports.

Blackburn and Southern Utah’s Zach Larsen are the two best centers in the Big Sky Conference as evidenced by preseason honors and all-league teams. Larsen earned first team All-America honors from Hero Sports and STATS, and joined Blackburn on the Athlon squad.

Larsen has been the first team All-BSC center each of the last two seasons while Blackburn has earned second team accolades in each of the last three years.

In 2016 when Blackburn was a sophomore and started his current string of 37-straight starts, Joey Kuperman from Cal Poly earned first team honors.
