OFFICERS: Dousing is taste of anarchy

| July 28, 2019 1:00 AM

Embarrassed and saddened is what I felt this week after watching two police officers being doused with water. While arresting someone who had a warrant for their arrest, a heckling crowd threw buckets of water on them, even striking one of the officers in the back of the head with a water bucket. The officers fulfilled their duty and left.

Except for the measured restraint of these officers, this could have turned very ugly. Even though some of the perpetrators could be arrested and I hope they are, what has brought us to this? This was anarchy; lawlessness. What is the empowering factor fueling this disdain for the rule of law? Some will say, “In these communities it is survival of the fittest, (anarchy) brought on by neglect and apathy of law enforcement.”

There are other and more recent factors. Open borders and the disdain for ICE officers is a breeding ground for a new society; one without laws. Warning: Anarchy owes no allegiance to those who grant lawless freedom. Sanctuary cities that harbor law breakers will be the first to feel the impact of an ungrateful mob. Lawmakers who turn a blind eye to the lawless are not safe from what they have created. Lawlessness takes from those who offer it and then turns on them who created it.

I am grateful again today for God giving The Ten Commandments, that we might know right from wrong.
