Indians walk off with a walk, edge Vancouver

SPOKANE — Kenen Irizarry, who started the 10th inning on second base via the league’s new tiebreaker after making the final out in the ninth inning, scored on a bases-loaded walk to Jonah McReynolds, and the Spokane Indians beat the Vancouver Canadians 2-1 in Northwest League baseball in front of 7,039 at Avista Stadium on Saturday.

Vancouver (17-26 overall, 2-3 second half) took a 1-0 lead on an RBI single in the second inning by Adrian Ramos to score Ronny Brito. Spokane (24-18, 3-2) tied the game on an RBI double by Luis Asuncion to score Blaine Crim in the bottom of the eighth.

The teams conclude the three-game series today at 5.

- Before the game, Spokane announced it will host Game 1 of the best-of-3 game Northwest League Divisional Series at Avista Stadium on Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 6:30 p.m.

It is the fourth straight season Spokane has advanced, and fifth in the last six seasons after winning the North Division first half title with a 22-16 record. The Indians last won a Northwest League championship in 2008.
