Fran Goff, 84

Frances (Fran) Irene Goff, 84, of Coeur d’Alene, was called home to her Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 14, 2019. She was born Jan. 17, 1935, to Melvin and Mary (Jacobson) Asplund, in Coeur d’Alene, where she was raised. She graduated from high school in 1953 and then attended North Idaho Junior College.

Fran married James H. “Jim” Goff in 1957, and together they traveled and lived in several states and overseas during his career in the United States Air Force. They raised three daughters and settled once again in Coeur d’Alene upon Jim’s retirement in 1971. Fran (or “Frannie” as she was affectionately known to many friends and relatives) worked primarily in the banking and administrative field, managing Lake Villa Apartments until her retirement.

Fran’s life revolved around her family and she loved people, always making new friends easily wherever she went. Her life reflected her walk with Jesus and she served her family and others with great joy, always putting others before herself. She served faithfully as a Union Gospel Mission volunteer, at her church and its food pantry, and she was a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer. She was active in her church, Bible studies, prayer teams and other ministries for many years. Fran enjoyed a good game of pinochle, going for rides and having picnics in the park. She also loved to spend time with her close circle of friends, who were so dedicated to her.

Fran was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her infant son, Thomas James; brother, Donald Asplund; sister, Dorothy Howell; and son-in-law, Robert Enright. She leaves behind her sister, Carole (Jerry) Wilson; daughters, Cathy (Gary) O’Neal, Sue Enright and Leisa (Glenn) Wick; grandchildren, Anna (Chris) McKahan, Megan (Louis) Guzzo, Kelly O’Neal, Michelle Walsh, Kaycee Wick and Brandon Wick; and her great-grandsons, Greyson McKahan and Adam Walsh.

“Though her passing has left a deep hole in our hearts, we will carry on our beautiful Mother’s legacy of love for her family and others.”

A celebration of Fran’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2019, at Coeur d’Alene Bible Church, 5350 N. Fourth St., with her son-in-law, Gary O’Neal officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. For anyone who wishes, memorial contributions may be sent to Union Gospel Mission or Schneidmiller Hospice House.

The family wishes to sincerely thank all of those who selflessly cared for Mom in her final days.
