Today is the hottest day so far this year
UPDATE (4:40 p.m.): How hot was it? Not quite the century mark, but Press meteorologist Randy Mann confirmed a high temperature of 97 today in Coeur d’Alene.
The all-time high for July 23, Mann said, was 105 in 1959.
Darn right it’s hot.
The official CDA temperature at 2:45 this afternoon was 94, likely to hit 95 or so before the heat subsides, said Press meteorologist Randy Mann. While it’s not a record, 94 is the hottest day so far in 2019, which raises questions - and answers from the Weather Mann.
The only other day the mercury hit 90 this year was June 13. Typically, Mann says, Coeur d’Alene experiences 11 days of 90-plus degree temperatures in the summer.
“Cliff (climatologist Cliff Harris) and I see hotter weather in early to mid-August, so I think we’ll end up around 8-11 days for the season,” Mann predicted for 90-degree scorchers.
For the rest of this afternoon and evening, do your best to stay cool. Mother Nature might then take over. Showers and thunderstorms are forecast tonight, setting the meteorological table for highs Wednesday in the upper 70s.
