- The Coeur d'Alene Tribal Encampment and Julyamsh Pow Wow begins with a memorial dance and individual specials and giveaways at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds. The Friday grand entry will be at 7 p.m. with more events on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $10 for adults, free for kids 12 and younger.
- Visitors to the English Point Recreation Area and Canfield Butte near Hayden are likely to see scattered piles of brush, branches and thinned trees. This work is part of the Kootenai Fuels Reduction Project to decrease fuels and reduce the threat of wildfire. About 118 acres have been completed around the perimeter of the English Point Recreation Area, with more fuel reduction work to be completed in the future. Thinning, pruning and piling work is also occurring around the top of Canfield Butte to protect emergency services communications and other infrastructure. Additional fuel reduction work is occurring on the boundary of the Coeur d'Alene National Forest next to private property in the Canfield area.
- The public is invited to a ceremony that will honor Korean War veterans with Ambassador for Peace medals at 10 a.m. on Saturday at American Legion Post 143, 1138 E. Poleline Ave., Post Falls.
