RATHDRUM — Looking for something fun to do today?

Rathdrum Days has you covered.

"We have KnockerBalls!" Rathdrum Area Chamber of Commerce director Jane Pierce said Friday. "They're big plastic air-inflated balls people put over their heads and they can play soccer and knock into each other. You're inside of a ball and you can run around. Their slogan is 'Get in the ball.' They're pretty fun to watch."

The annual town celebration opened with a car cruise and street dance Friday evening and continues today with a community breakfast at 7:30 in the Rathdrum Masonic Lodge on the corner of McCartney and West Second streets.

Pickleball, a car show, a strength competition, a pig pursuit, a watermelon-eating contest and Irish dancing are all part of the civic spectacle. It's the 18th year for the Big Wheel racing, a crowd favorite that tickles the funny bone.

"We have 104 vendors this year, so that's going to be exciting. Many of them haven't been involved before," Pierce said, adding that last year the celebration had 60 vendors.

"It's just really fun that people get to come out and enjoy our scenic Rathdrum community," she said. "There's no admission fee. It's an awesome place for people to come together and not have to break the bank to enjoy it."
