FILM: Racism, sexism in reverse
American Film is not dying with a bang or a whimper. It is dying with a Woke Primal Scream at the sky.
Ask yourself what these beloved entertainment franchises have in common: “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” “Star Trek: Discovery,” the 13th “Doctor Who,” the Netflix “Witcher” series, “Terminator: Dark Fate,” “Ghostbusters (2016),” “Captain Marvel” and now Lashana Lynch’s casting as the first Black female “James Bond?”
Each of these takes an established character and fictional universe and forces a gender-role reversal, a racial switch, or the replacement of classical mythological archetypes with Deconstructivist Nihilism. By their very nature, these reimagined reprises are racist and sexist, assuming that what defines a person is an unchosen birth characteristic.
These new products are creatively sterile. This inability to “boldly go where no storyteller has gone before” is what happens when the entertainment industry comes under the power of strident and “Woke” propagandists; humorless hacks with more of an ax to grind than a tale to tell. They are like many who look at history and try to demonize historical figures who do not conform to today’s version of political correctness.
Idealists, it is better to create than to destroy. The way to build a better tomorrow is not to sanitize the past but to construct something that you deem to be “new and improved.” Until Hollywood remembers this, it will continue to blight old memories rather than to craft fresh new experiences that are themselves worth remembering.
