Coeur d'Alene, Prairie split to conclude regular season
COEUR d’ALENE — Landen Thompson broke a 2-2 tie with a two-run single with two out in the sixth inning to send the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen past the Prairie Cardinals 4-2 in the first game of a class AA North Idaho League doubleheader on Tuesday at Thorco Field.
With the win in the opener, Coeur d’Alene (28-15-1, 10-2 NIL) clinched the outright league title and will be the top seed to the Area A (district) tournament, which begins Friday at Thorco Field. Prairie (11-20-1, 5-7) will be the third seed and face second seeded Lewis-Clark (22-17) on Friday at 4 p.m., followed by the Lums against fourth-seeded Northern Lakes (0-12 in league) at 7.
In the nightcap, Tanner McCliment-Call hit a sacrifice fly to score Miller with two outs to lift Prairie past Coeur d’Alene 4-3 to earn a split.
