Indians score late, reclaim first place

SPOKANE — Jonah McReynolds blasted an eighth-inning home run to left-center as the host Indians topped Everett 5-4 on Monday to reclaim first place in the Northwest League standings.

Before 3,947 fans at Avista Stadium, Spokane (17-14) opened an early lead, only to see the AquaSox (16-15) score three runs in the seventh. A bases-loaded single by Patrick Frick tied the game at 4, but the Indians helped squelch the rally as centerfielder Kellen Strahm threw out DeAires Moses as he ran from first to third base.

Spokane’s Daniel Robert pitched two scoreless innings for the win, striking out three AquaSox.

The Indians go for a series win tonight as they host Everett at 6:30 p.m.
