JoAnne Seher (Jones)
JoAnne Jones, 51, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 4, 2019. She was born to parents Larry and Gail Jones on Nov. 8, 1967, in Cottonwood, Idaho. She was raised in Nez Perce, Idaho, with her brother, Aaron Jones. They were raised at the family farm before moving to various locations, including Sacramento, Calif.; Dayton, Wash., and Moses Lake, Wash. Then they spent the remainder of her childhood years in Post Falls, Idaho. She completed high school in a Christian school setting through Baptist Temple, in Spokane, Wash.
JoAnne began working various jobs as an adult and in 2006 she became employed by North Idaho College, where she remained for her career. She spent most of her employment at NIC in dining services, where she made some lifelong friends that she had enjoyed working with. She spent the last two years of her employment at NIC as an events coordinator. Around the same time she started this new position, she was also diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer. She knew this battle would be tough, but she took on the challenge of attending work and chemo treatments every week. If there was one word that people would have used to describe her, it would be “strong.” Through the remainder of her employment and diagnosis, she did it all with a smile. No complaints, no feeling sorry for herself, she accepted what the doctors said and followed treatments while continuing to work and uplift others.
She carried on the importance of family unity laid by the example of her mother. It is how she led and raised her family and she passed down this value to her children and grandchildren. She accomplished this by spending quality time with them and organizing family get-togethers. She would always go out of her way to prepare food and desserts for each individual family member to make sure everyone had their favorites. Often, she would spend 3-5 days to prepare for these get-togethers and she enjoyed the laughter and time spent together.
JoAnne is survived by and awaiting the arrival of her family. Her father, Larry Jones; brother, Aaron (Christine) Jones; children, Jessica (Jake) Mikek, Annette (Aaron) Collins and Ryan Seher; grandchildren, Emma, Lyla, Naomi, Isabelle Mikek, Malachi, Adam, Alayla Stiles.
Some of JoAnne’s favorite verses were Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not to your own understanding in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.”
And Psalms 46:10, “Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
Family motto: It is well with my soul.
