Michael Ray Garrett, 66
Michael Ray Garrett was born July 10, 1952, in San Francisco, to Robert and Weida (Bandy) Garrett. He left this world on July 1, 2019, after an extended illness. Mike spent his early years in the Bay Area of California and enjoyed the deep-sea fishing that the area offered. It was in the Bay Area that he began a successful career in real estate and continued with that career when he moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, in the late 1980s. Mike was able to successfully transition his real estate career into building homes, which he proudly did for more than 10 years. When the real estate market took a downturn, Mike created Alpine Landscape & Maintenance, which he continued to operate until his retirement. Mike enjoyed all things outdoors and was able to experience a wide variety of outdoor sports during his lifetime. Hunting, fishing, and clay target shooting were among his favorites.
Mike is survived by his girlfriend, Rhonda Harvitt of Hayden, Idaho; his daughter, Nicole Garrett of Corvallis, Ore. and extended family in California. Mike was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Carol Rovetta.
Mike shared many stories with the people he came into contact with. Rhonda and Nicole would like all who knew him to come and share those stories at an informal gathering at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at the pavilion in Broadmoore Park in Hayden. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Kootenai Humane Society would honor Mike’s love of furry friends.
