Police say man shot after fireworks
COEUR d’ALENE — Multiple police agencies are investigating a shooting that occurred shortly after 10 p.m. in City Park, just as the fireworks show was ending in downtown Coeur d’Alene.
Capt. John Kempf with the Idaho State Police said that the Coeur d’Alene Police Department was involved in the shooting, which sent one man to Kootenai Health with unspecified injuries.
“We do not have his status at this time,” Kempf said to a gathering of media just outside the Coeur d’Alene Chamber of Commerce building late Thursday.
Kempf said the Idaho State Police is spearheading the investigation, with officers from several other agencies also involved.
He added it was unknown if suspects were being sought.
Coeur d’Alene Police Department personnel were expected to release a statement about the incident early this morning, Kempf said.
