Fourth of July event and road closures

- The city of Coeur d’Alene Streets and Engineering Department will close Sherman Avenue from 11th Street to Independence Point beginning at 10 a.m. today for the Kiddies Parade.

- Twenty-third Street and Sherman Avenue to Garden Avenue on Northwest Boulevard will be closed from 8 a.m. to noon on the Fourth of July.

- After 4 p.m. July 4, the Fort Grounds area will be closed to the public. Detours will be in place. Residents of the Fort Grounds area and their guests will be allowed to go through barriers.

- The U.S. 95 overpass at Northwest Boulevard will close at 7 p.m. on July 4. To reach downtown, residents and visitors will need to use the Fourth Street or 23rd Street off-ramps.

- Event parking fees — $20 — will be put in place in all city-owned lots and parking garages during the holiday, but the Kootenai County courthouse lot on Government Way will be free to the public.

- The Old-Fashioned American Fun Parade will begin at 10 a.m. July 4. The route goes west on Sherman Avenue from 15th Street to Government Way.

- There will be vendors, amusement-park rides and music from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. July 4 at the Coeur d’Alene City Park.

- The annual lakefront fireworks show will begin at dusk July 4 — around 9:30 or 10 p.m. — and will last about 20 minutes.
