Declare independence over your health!
Perhaps the most fundamental idea in the foundation of our country is that of freedom and independence. One surprising freedom that many of us have relinquished is that over our health. The current state of the health and wellness industry can be extremely confusing and frustrating at times, especially to individuals for whom concrete answers have been elusive.
We have a great many patients who have come through our doors exasperated, exhausted and hopeless, who have found answers to their health problems under our care. One of the reasons we have been so successful is that we delve deeply into WHY our patients are experiencing their symptoms. A symptom is the body’s way of telling us that something is wrong. In order to resolve health challenges, it is essential to identify the underlying causes. For example, if you have insomnia, why? Is it because your hormones are out of balance? Do you have blood sugar handling problems, heart palpitations or reflux that are affecting your sleep? Or is it one or a combination of the many other reasons that insomnia occurs? If so, why do you have those? Once we get to the bottom of all the “whys,” we can really move forward in resolving the problem.
Achieving a state of true wellness is like building a house. It needs the right combination of good quality, raw materials (nutrients) to build and repair itself and to give it resilience and adaptability in a constantly changing environment. If these nutrients aren’t available to your body, it’s like asking a carpenter to build a house without wood or basic materials. At Vital Health, we provide very specific but attainable nutritional guidance and personalized supplement recommendations.
We use acupuncture like the contractor or the foreman on the job site. It tells your body how best to allocate its resources to repair and build the strongest structure possible. Countless studies have shown the ways acupuncture interacts with your body to activate cascades of physiological pathways, increase blood flow and oxygenation of tissues, decrease pain and it has even been shown, in functional MRI, to activate regions of the brain specific to its therapeutic effect.
One of the absolutely essential markers to maintaining long-term health is having effective digestion. In the building analogy we just used, digestion is like the shipping process. If you can’t get the raw materials to your job site, they are useless to you. Due to the constant stresses of our modern lifestyles, almost every one of our patients needs some type of digestive support. It is quite common to hear, “Oh, it’s good!” when prompting patients about their digestion, only to discover through deeper questioning that the individual is in a state of digestive insufficiency or malabsorption. This is just one of the many systems we investigate when delving into WHY any given condition is present.
Our ultimate goal is to empower our patients with the knowledge and resources needed to resolve their conditions permanently so that they can achieve health independence.
