- The North Idaho DUI Task Force will hold a community meet and greet session on Wednesday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Anchored Coffee, 451 W. Dalton Ave. Law-enforcement representatives will answer questions.
- A logging project in the St. Joe River valley near Avery was tentatively approved this week: The U.S. Forest Service found no significant environmental impact. The finding is open to objections. The Brebner Flat project, two years in the making, includes timber harvest on 1,719 acres and road-building and maintenance on 39 miles of forest roads to address hazardous fuels and forest health.
- The only fireworks legal to possess or use within Post Falls city limits are those marked "safe and sane." Unlawful fireworks include: firecrackers, cannon crackers, giant crackers, salutes, cherry bombs, mines, grasshoppers and other explosive articles of similar nature. Also unlawful: skyrockets, Roman candles and chasers and whistles, including all devices that dart and travel about the surface of the ground during discharge.
