MOSCOW — Sophomore post Katy Ryan had a triple double with 11 points, 16 rebounds and 11 blocked shots, and the Lakeland Hawks won in Moscow for the first time since 2011, beating the Bears 37-20 on Thursday night at Bear Den to clinch at least a tie for the 4A Inland Empire League title.

“It was a great win,” said Lakeland coach Steve Seymour, whose team blanked Moscow in the first quarter. “It wasn’t the most artistic win. It was a great start defensively. What a half, especially that first quarter.”

Lakeland (8-10, 3-0 4A IEL) last won in Moscow during the 4A Region 1 tournament eight seasons ago. Before that, Lakeland’s last regular-season win at Moscow came in 2009, when the Hawks were a 4A independent. Lakeland’s last league victory in Moscow came in 2008, when the IEL was a combined 5A/4A league.

Taylor Elpers added seven points, eight rebounds and three steals for Lakeland, and Lauryn Cooper had four assists.

Megan Jung, who scored 16 points for Moscow (6-13, 0-3) in the Bears’ 55-45 loss at Lakeland two weeks ago, did not score on Thursday night.

“It was a team effort — just more of an awareness of where she was,” Seymour said. “She got shots off, we just tried to make them difficult shots.”

Lakeland can wrap up the league title and the No. 1 seed to regionals when it visits Sandpoint on Tuesday in the Hawks’ league and regular-season finale.

PLUMMER — Kamryn Hendrickx scored on a scoop layin with 10 seconds left in overtime to lift the host Knights past the Miners at Ron Miller Court to remain in first place in the North Star League.

Lakeside (7-8, 5-1 NSL) trailed by five points with 30 seconds left in regulation. Suzzana Pakootas made a 3-pointer for the Knights, and after a turnover, Alyssa SiJohn got loose near the basket for a layin to tie it.

Wallace (6-10, 4-3) missed four free throws in the final 10 seconds of regulation.

Freshman Ashlee Holt, a callup from the junior varsity who finished with 10 points, hit a basket to give Lakeside the lead in OT. Maggie Howard’s two free throws for Wallace tied it at 56 with 40 seconds left.

“It was probably one of the wildest games I’ve been a part of,” said Lakeside coach Chris Dohrman, who lost two starters to foul trouble. “It was probably not our best basketball, but we found a way. It was senior night, but some of our younger players stepped up — (freshman) Jolissa Holt, especially on defense, and Ashlee shot it well.”

Suzzana Pakootas led Lakeside with 14 points.

Freshman Jaden House of Wallace led all scorers with 22 points.

Lakeside plays at Genesis Prep tonight at 6 at Post Falls Middle School.

Wallace returns to action Jan. 31 at Clark Fork.

ST. MARIES — Call it a wakeup call, or really good use of a timeout.

After falling behind 5-0, St. Maries coach Bryan Chase called his first timeout, then watched his team go on a 14-0 run into the second quarter, then hung on to beat the Tigers in a nonleague game.

“We came out flat and weren’t flying around like we normally do,” Chase said. “I gave them a chewing, and we came out with a little more energy after that. You could tell there was a little more fire out of the group after that.”

Jackson Pritchard scored 14 points and Kaden Hammond had 13 points, four assists, four steals and four rebounds for St. Maries (11-4), which travels to Grangeville on Saturday.

Chase Gardom scored 18 points for Timberlake (4-10), which travels to Kellogg on Saturday.

MULLAN — Mitchell Vawter hit four 3-pointers and finished with 18 points for the Warriors in a North Star League win over the Tigers at the Mullan Pavilion.

Jarrett Usdrowski scored 14 points, Gage Maitland and Triston Usdrowski 10 points each for Kootenai (7-4, 3-4 NSL), which hosts Troy on Monday.

Luke Trogden scored 20 points and Riley Trogden scored 19 points for Mullan (5-9, 1-6), which finished with only four players after its fifth fouled out less than two minutes into the second quarter.

“It’s kind of hard to play 4-on-5,” Mullan coach Paul Elston said. “Kootenai shoots the ball really well, so it’s kind of pick your poison. We had a really good effort despite the fact we only had four players. We did a lot of good things, but Kootenai made a few more plays than we did.”

Mullan travels to Lakeside next Thursday.
